Location: according to season!

The Serengeti camps follow the year.

Our Serengeti camps are not permanent: they move within a general area to be where the migration is always reachable, away from the most congested areas. Manyara and Tarangire are lodges of tented cottages.

Kirurumu Under Canvas

Camping has never been so luxurious.

The camp is used as a base, a spring board for an early morning game drive, a break for a sumptuous lunch, a respite from the heat of the day and the finale to a days adventure where stories can be swapped around a fire.

01

A complete circuit, under canvas

We are not permanent and use our seasonality and possible changing camp locations within a general area as being the most strategic given that the migration is unpredictable but always reachable from our camps. Generally we avoid the most congested areas and use our superior knowledge and many years of experience to be located in areas that are less busy but excellent for wildlife.

02

A small and intimate camp

As a small and intimate camp the staff are on hand just to look after a very limited number of guests and so the level of attention and service is always excellent.

Maasai guides

Your security is very important to us. Only the best Maasai will be there to walk you to & from your tents at any given time. Maasai guided ethno - botanical walks, day treks & hikes available.

Community based tourism

Putting something back… no handouts.

Tourism in areas outside the parks is a means by which pastoral communities like the Maasai can earn income from the wildlife that they have co-existed with for aeons, without changing land use or cultural norms.

The end game is that the local community benefits in return for continuing a traditional lifestyle, wildlife is protected and the visitor has the satisfaction of knowing that he has made a tangible contribution in paying conservation & development fees to the community and not by giving useless handouts.

Sleep in a tent and hear lions in the night

Top notch glamorous camping! A restaurant tent, your own sleep tent with a huge luxury bed complete with shower and en suite toilet. In the middle of one of the greatest places on earth. Absolutely five star!

Fantastic Campsite in the Wilderness

We have recently spent three nights at Kirurumu Serengeti Camp and loved every minute of it. Godwin and his crew are doing a wonderful and fabulous job to keep the camp luxurious and comfortable. All the staff were kind and respectful and went out of there way to make sure all our needs were attended to. The food was wholesome, plentiful and delicious.

Testimonials

Right on the rim of the Great African Rift Valley, this Lodge offers large tented Rooms and a spectacular view from most rooms, restaurant and bar. The staff is very welcoming and helpful and the food is delicious... I seriously recommend staying here after visiting Lake Manyara National Park.

Wow - what an experience!

During the night you hear all kinds of familiar and unfamiliar sounds. You could hear hyenas crying, there were zebras grazing and the next morning when we woke up we had a herd of elephant in front of our tent. We counted 10, there was a baby one practicing to use it trunk. Adorable! … During breakfast, the elephants walked by in formation. Very cool!

Exceeded "glamping" expectations!

My safari through the north Serengeti was an extraordinary experience, and part of what made it so special was spending the end of the day (and early mornings) at Kirurumu North Camp. Camping has never been so luxurious. … Unique and unforgettable!
Jeffrey Rogers, Washington DC · North Serengeti

6 stars!

Once we arrived finally at Ndutu Under Canvas it was like a true oasis. … The next two days were pure luxury. We felt like we were the only guests in the camp. The food was exquisite and exceptional. … I left this camp on cloud nine!
Birgitte D. New York City, NY USA · South Serengeti

Wonderful place

I could not walk back to the dining area as too physically demanding - they brought a three course candlelight dinner to the deck of our chalet - was magical!
